ALL 12 OF COUNTY’S COMPREHENSIVE HIGH SCHOOLS
MEET STATE’S ADEQUATE YEARLY PROGRESS TARGETS
For the first
time since the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) program was implemented in 2003,
all 12 of the county’s comprehensive high schools have met the
targets set forth by the state as part of federal
No Child Left Behind legislation, according to data released by the
Maryland State Department of Education.
The announcement
means 100 of the county’s 109 comprehensive schools (91.7 percent) met the
targets for the 2007-2008 school year. In the 2006-2007 school year, 97 schools
met the targets.
